AROMATHERAPY FOR DOGS

Stacks Image 519
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the use of plant essential oils to treat physical, mental and emotional problems.
When used in the correct dilutions, aromatherapy is safe for dogs.
Plant essential oils vary in price hugely so it's usually more economical to purchase oils, which have already been blended and diluted; ready for use.

How are aromatherapy blends given to dogs?
The blended and diluted oils can be used sparingly as a massage type therapy. Massaging your dog with a little oil blend is a really nice way to bond, it smells great and your dog will love it. They make a great hand oil for dog owners too, they are non toxic when you pat your dog (unlike many other hand oils, creams and lotions) they are highly absorbent and excellent for dry skin. These blends can also be placed in a diffuser or dabbed onto a bed or blanket.

What is the spritzer?
Spritzers are blends of oils and purified water. They can be used a little more liberally than the oil blends and are perfectly safe to spray in rooms, onto bedding, into kennels and into the car before a long journey.

Note: Undiluted oils should never be used on or around dogs. Their sense of smell is incredibly sensitive and what we may find mild and pleasant may just be plain irritating and stressful to them.

What do essential oils do?
As essential oils have a positive effect on the mind, body and spirit they are a great holistic treatment for behavioral issues.  In holistic therapy, it is widely accepted that behavioral and emotional issues, if left untreated, lead to physical symptoms.  Aromatherapy is one of many holistic treatments that can be used to prevent disease, lower stress and raise the energy of the mind and body.

How do they work?
Aromatherapy oils seem to work energetically, increasing the animal’s vital force.
"When you treat an animal with an essential oil, the healing properties are drawn to whichever part of the body is out of balance and in need of healing.  By increasing the animal's vital force, it's own powers of self healing are stimulated."

Essential oils have antiseptic, anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.  They are relaxing, soothing, detoxifying, revitalizing and some have anti-inflammatory properties.

Common problems treated with aromatherapy are:
Car sickness
Emotional problems such as anxiety, stress, fear, depression
Minor Skin complaints
Lack of motivation, sadness, depression.

NOTE:
Please be assured that all of the ingredients used in these blends are high quality and human grade. They are sourced from the best suppliers we could find in Australia. The essential oils are 100% pure. The spritzers are alcohol free.

Some of the creams, oils and lotions we, as dog owners, put on our hands can be quite harmful to our pets. Many of the popular commercial blends unfortunately contain toxic chemicals that so easily get coated onto our dogs fur when we pat them. This in particular can be very harmful to cats who are always grooming themselves.

By using an aromatherapy blend on your hands approved for dogs, you can enjoy a highly absorbent rich hand oil that smells lovely and not have to worry about transferring any toxins to your pet. Be aware, cats are very sensitive to all essential oils so be sure to rub your hand oil into your skin thoroughly before patting your cat

This blend may calm your dog in stressful times such as travelling, during a thunderstorm, a new home environment, an extended time in kennels or being left alone for long periods.

Use 1 pump of oil blend. Rub it into your hands, then massage your dog around the neck, shoulders and chest area.

To provide superior protection from spoilage and maintain the integrity of the 100% pure essential oils, this blend has been packaged in an aluminum bottle.
